The park that became a neighborhood

Westerpark takes its name from the gorgeous park right at its heart. There, the nineteenth-century Westergasfabriek gasworks now houses restaurants, a cinema, breweries, and fun festivals almost every single weekend. The surrounding streets perfectly mix classic Amsterdam School architecture with modern, new-build apartments along the water.

You'll get a lot more space for your money here compared to the canal belt. It's a quick ten-minute cycle to Central Station, and you get the best Sunday market in the city. The Sunday Market and NeighbourFood Market take turns bringing great food and crafts to the Westergasfabriek.
